Jerry Holder - JVJ Racing After a short retirement I built Bodacious in 1984. I won track champion in 1985, 1988 & 1993. I also won the SWDRA championship in 1993. I only raced part time from 1994 to 1997 so my 2 youngest kids could race Jr. Dragsters. Jerry Jr. was the 1993 Division 4 champion & raced at the NRHA Jr. Nationals from 1994 to 1996. Virginia was the SWDRA points champion in 1995 & 1997. She raced at the Jr. Nationals from 1995 to 1997. She won the Penzoil Thin Air Nationals in 1997 & was a semi-finalist at the 1995 IHRA Nationals. After the kids quit racing in 1997 I have been racing whenever possible. I enjoy Buick club races & have run the Rocky Mountian Buick races in Pueblo & the Southern Arizona Buick Club race in Tucson. I have finished well in all races with 1 win and a couple of runner ups. Bodacious is a 1972 Buick GS with a 455 Buick engine that I built in 1992 with the help of Phil Jaramillo at Bosque Tire & Auto. It's basically a "homemade" Stage 1, 10:1 c.r., with a big hydraulic cam. The trans, a Turbo 400, & 4.10 rear end were built with help from Courty Hines at Flash Automotive. The paint is by The Colorworks in Los Lunas. My best ET is 11.52 @ 115 mph at Roswell in 2001. I would not have been able to race without the support of my family; my wife Joanne, kids Donald, Jerry Jr. & Virginia and my Crew Chief Al Coffman, (he was also crew chief for thr Jr dragsters). The best thing about racing is family and the friends you make along the way. I plan on racing as long as I am able.
