Jaramillo
Motorsports has been in the racing world for well over 20 years. The
two drivers of this team are Phil Jaramillo and Fred Jaramillo.
Jaramillo Motorsports is based out of Bosque Farms, New Mexico.
Fred Jaramillo has been racing since 1989. He started racing as soon as
he was old enough to hold a racing license. In his first race he
eliminated a tough field which included the track champion to take his
first win as a driver. In the fall of 1992 just after graduating high
school he purchased his own car and headed into the world of being an
owner/driver in the drag racing world. Fred's current car is a 1991
Spitzer Rear Engine Dragster which he races in the Super Comp category.
Power comes from a 471 Mopar engine. Success has come on and off the
track as Fred Jaramillo has stepped up his efforts and took ownership of
a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado which he races in the Super Gas category. The
engine in this car is a 468 cubic inch Chevrolet engine built by the
Bosque Tire & Automotive group. Fred Jaramillo won his first national
event with this car at the 2001 Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals in
Denver, Colorado this past July. Fred completed Roy Hill's Drag Racing
Program in 1995 and has been racing on the national level since 1996.
Phil
Jaramillo has been involved in nearly all aspects of NHRA drag racing
since 1975. He has owned and managed his own automotive repair facility
(Bosque Tire & Automotive) and at the same time owned and managed
Albuquerque Dragway for a two year period while still owning and
maintaining a funny car operation. He is going on his 27th year as
business owner of Bosque Tire & Automotive in Bosque Farms, New Mexico.
Phil currently owns and drives a 1998 Don Davis Rear Engine Dragster and
races it in the Super Comp category. Power also comes from a 471 Mopar
engine built by racing partner and son, Fred Jaramillo and the Bosque
Tire & Automotive group. Phil Jaramillo is also a track champion. Phil
Completed the Roy Hill's Drag Racing Program in 1995 and has competed on
the national level since 1993. Both Phil and Fred receive a warm welcome
whenever they race and are a popular crowd favorite.
About the crew
Jenn Jaramillo is the youngest of four and grew up
around cars and racing. Jenn was 10 years old when Fred started racing.
She has been the main crew for more than 7 years. She has been getting
track experience by racing at some of the races. Currently she is going
to UNM full time while working as the office manager at Bosque Tire &
Automotive. Her college takes up most of her spare time but she makes a
huge effort to attend as many races as possible.
Deanna Jaramillo got her knowledge of drag racing
from her husband Fred. She met Fred in 1998 and started hanging out at
the shop helping rebuild and work on engines, cleaning cars and whatever
else needed done to get to the races. Deanna became a main crew member
really fast with her dedication and willingness to learn.
Both Deanna and Jenn are working toward getting their
NHRA license within the next year or two.
